Meridith Moldenhauer, a member of Cozen O’Connor’s Zoning, Land Use & Development Practice, discusses the increase in proposed Comprehensive Plan amendments that Washington, D.C.’s Office of Planning received during an open call process to seek feedback from residents in Washington Business Journal. When the Comprehensive Plan, which addresses land use, economic development, housing, historic preservation, and transportation, received some minor revisions in 2009, the Office of Planning had received 200 proposed amendments; in 2017, the Office of Planning received approximately 3,000. Meridith explains that “there’s obviously an increase in population, and people are more involved in providing insight. It’s good for the process – if it doesn’t slow it down.”
