Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth turned the home run into baseball’s main event. He began as a star pitcher with the Red Sox, then hit 54 in his first season with the Yankees in 1920 and 60 in 1927, a record that stood for 34 years. His 714 career home runs were the all-time mark until Hank Aaron passed him in 1974.
